Frequently Asked Questions about Sennheiser 650 and 660

Question: How long is the cable for the Sennheiser HD 650?

Answer: The cable of the Sennheiser HD 650 is non-coiled and is approximately 2 meters long. This cable is replaceable as it may be detached from the headphones, so I imagine a longer or shorter wire could be used.

Question: Is the Sennheiser HD 650 headphone good for ham radio operation?

Answer: I would think that a closed-back headphone would be better for ham radio. Open-back headphones sound better with music, which I use; mine for music is heaven with the Sennheiser HD 650. So, I would look into getting a pair of closed-back Sennheiser Headphones unless you want the 650s for music; also, then go with the Sennheiser 650; for Ham Radio, get a closed-back pair.

Question: Can I use the Sennheiser HD 650 for my iPad and iPhone

Answer: Yes, it will work, but it doesn’t get super loud. I wouldn’t recommend the Sennheiser HD 650 if you use it primarily with an iPhone or iPad. Also, it doesn’t have any inline controls (volume, mute, or pause). On the other hand, the HD 650s are open-air, so those around you will hear your music, and you will hear the noises around you pretty quickly.

A much better choice for iDevices is the Sennheiser Momentum.

Question: Can the Sennheiser HD 650 be used in a workplace with a lot of noise, or are they better to use at home?

Answer: Better at home, unless you play very loud to drown out the outside noise. But then everyone will hear your music too if it is that loud—excellent headphones for precise music reproduction.

Question: Can you use the Sennheiser HD 660 headphones while they are charging?

Answer: Yes, this is possible. I do this quite frequently as I forget to switch off the headset when I step away from my computer at the end of the day. The charging cable is a bit short for a good range of motion sitting at your computer, but I found a USB extension cord solves this fine.
